Worship Ministry

Praise and Worship at Emmanuel

We welcome you into our worship ministry and hope you will choose to become involved. We look forward to joining in fellowship with you and singing praises to God through leadership and liturgy at Emmanuel.

Ways to Serve: Music

Making music is a vital part of worship and congregational life at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. The diverse music ministry programs at Emmanuel provide our congregation, and visitors enhanced, joyful, and Spirit-led worship experiences. Through choral literature, instrumental and vocal ensembles as well as the congregation’s voices, we bring hymns of praise and thanksgiving to our Lord.

Sanctuary Choir – Adults The Sanctuary Choir is Emmanuel’s adult choral ensemble, leading the congregation each week in worship at the 11:00 a.m. service from September through May, and for special services during Advent and Lent. Participation in Sanctuary Choir is open to anyone who has a commitment to being a worship leader and enthusiasm for traditional and contemporary choral music.

Revelation – Adults
Revelation is Emmanuel’s principal praise band, leading the congregation in worship and song at each Sunday morning 8:30 a.m. service.  Participation in Revelation is open to singers and instrumentalists committed to leading the congregation in song and an enthusiasm for contemporary praise music.  For more information or to request an audition, please contact Geoff Pemble via the church office at 703-938-2119.

Ways to Serve: Worship Elements

Prayerfully consider these other vital ministries in your offerings of time and talent to Emmanuel. “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10

Altar Guild
Our Altar Guild works to ensure all the altar elements that adorn our chancel are available for every worship service. The time commitment is minimal and can be extremely flexible with your schedule.

Ushers and Greeters
Usher and Greeter teams serve a particular service and are critical to every worship service. This functional and hospitality ministry is vital to visitors and regular worshippers alike.

Lay Ministers and Communion Assistants
Every worship service uses Lay Ministers for Bible reading, intercessory prayer, and communion assistance. Volunteers are always needed to fill these essential roles.

Other Areas
