A WARM WELCOME
Building a Learning Foundation for Your Child
Emmanuel Lutheran Preschool welcomes students from all racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. We work to cultivate the individuality of each child and to encourage independence and creativity through our developmentally appropriate and play-based curriculum.
Our program is offered from 9:00 AM - Noon for children who are 2 through 5 years old (Pre-K).
A message from our Director
With more than 60 years of experience serving the Vienna/Oakton area, we hope you will find Emmanuel Lutheran Preschool to be your child’s home away from home. We offer a curriculum your child needs to build a foundation of learning and interpersonal skills for their future. Please reach out to me to book a tour or to help answer any questions you may have. We look forward to meeting you and your little ones!

EXPERIENCE THE DIFFERENCE
With teacher-moderated activity and learning centers, your child will be encouraged to experiment and explore with others. Through play, children learn to take turns, delay gratification, negotiate conflicts, solve problems, and acquire flexibility.
Many of our staff have been with us for over 10 years. To ensure the safety and security of your child, all staff employment files include completed background checks, fingerprinting, TB screening and all paperwork required by the state. They are also required to complete 16 hours of continuing education classes each year.
The preschool is an outreach ministry of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where children learn to love God, love learning, and love all others. Our chapel program takes place on most Wednesdays, led by church staff. Families are always welcome to attend.
TESTIMONIALS
Hear from our Parents!
Emmanuel Lutheran Preschool has been a home away from home for my three kids. The staff and teachers maintain an environment where developmental learning is a non-negotiable priority, and creativity and fun consistently shape lesson plans and routines. Students are seen as individuals, and they are encouraged every day to share their interests, questions, and ideas. When my son wanted to share his favorite book with the class, his teacher turned it into a lesson plan. When my daughter wanted to pretend there was a resident mouse in the church, Mrs. Reinhart wrote her a story about it that she will treasure forever. All my children "graduated" from the preschool fully prepared for kindergarten, but more importantly, equipped with the knowledge that the world outside their home contains adventures worth discovering, and loving people worth knowing.

Mother of 3 ELP Students
In the six years that our three kids have attended ELP, we have been continually impressed with how the staff goes above and beyond to ensure the children are growing and learning. In these especially challenging times, the Director and the entire staff work tirelessly to keep the parents updated and the students feeling normal and fulfilled.
Our kids love their teachers and it is clear that the teachers love our kids, working with them while at school and continuing to ask about them after they graduate from the program. Each day our kids come home bursting with stories and can’t wait to go back the next day. It’s also become clear to us that those in the education community respect and appreciate the staff at ELP; our child meets with multiple speech therapists, all of whom say ELP is one of their favorite schools to work with. We know that when we leave our kids at ELP they are safe and loved.
As a second generation family attending ELP, we have seen how well they prepare the children for elementary school, for which we are so grateful.
Current ELP Parent
As a former teacher, I was really hoping to have a play-based preschool that was more focused on children learning how to be students, how to socialize, and how to be more independent than a school focused on numbers and letters. Emmanuel Lutheran Preschool was the best option for our family.
Now that the twins have spent two years there, we are thrilled for our third child to also attend this Fall. ELP provides a safe and loving environment. Teachers listen to concerns you may have and schedule time to meet with you when needed. My children have flourished while at preschool. All of the staff and teachers are welcoming and caring. We are very happy with our choice!
