OUR JOURNEY OF FAITH TOGHETHER

Our Journey of Faith Together

At Emmanuel, we strive to provide you with the opportunity to

  • ask questions
  • grapple with doubts
  • deepen their faith
  • grow in community with each other

Below are the small group opportunities currently available to you at 9:45 am between worship services on Sundays, as well as throughout the week.

Sunday Morning Opportunities

Women’s Group

We focus on topics and/or faith-based books relevant to women of all ages and stages of life. Each meeting is facilitated by a group member who integrates Scripture and reflection questions to encourage a closer relationship with Christ and each other. Get your copy of In All Things, a Nine-Week Devotional on Unshakeable Joy by Melissa Kruger. Join us in the chapel.

Men’s Bible Study

We study the Bible by discussing a chapter a week. Attendees take turns leading the discussion each week. Bring your Bible or we will have one for you. Held in the conference room next to the nursery.

Parent’s Group

Learn more about our neighbors as we explore what it means to live out Emmanuel’s mission “To nurture, grow, and share our Christian faith as Lutherans in a multi-cultural world”. Led by Kristi Bubb and Erica Aspuria in the office reception area.

Women’s Book of Acts Group

Bring your Bible to this women’s Book of Acts study group. The book of Acts has a central role in the New Testament. It connects Jesus with the emerging Christian community and the Gospels with the rest of the New Testament. Led by Linda McGahern and Jean Smallin in room 10 (downstairs).

Weekly / Monthly Opportunities

Monthly Book Study on Second Tuesdays

If you love to read, enjoy a good thought-provoking novel, or want to begin reading more often, this group is for you! The Emmanuel Book Group meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm, usually in our library. We read and discuss different books each month so check out the upcoming studies. Led by Kathy Uffelman

Bible and Bacon

This group is open to all women who enjoy a good breakfast, fellowship, and some bible study time together. We meet on the 3rdSaturday of each month. Stop by the church library for bible study and breakfast! Led by Cheryl Gallagher

Men’s Breakfast Bible Study

We meet every week on Wednesdays at 7:30 am at American Legion in Vienna for bible study and a meal. Led by Deacon Dave Larrabee

Nurture and Nourish Women’s Study

This weekly women’s study meets every Thursday at 1:00 pm in the Library. On the first and third Thursdays, enjoy some fellowship time with a potluck lunch. We are currently studying Fierce Women of the Bible.

Prayers & Blessings Dinner Group
We meet the first Tuesday of each month to dine at various restaurants in Vienna and Oakton, sometimes trying out new ones. Occasionally, we meet for drinks and dinner at one of our homes. Most of us are eligible for AARP membership, but all ages are more than welcome to participate. Led by June Fraim

Tables of Friends

Tables of Friends is an opportunity for adult individuals and couples to socialize with other Emmanuel members in a small group setting. Meals are held four times a year, beginning in the spring. Each event typically includes eight members, and the meals are a team effort with the host supplying the main course and others bringing side dishes and dessert. Groups are re-shuffled after each event, so you are in a new group of eight each time. Hosts coordinate the date within the assigned season. New schedules will be coming in early March, so sign up now.

Prayer Walking Ministry

The goals of prayer walking are to “walk” at least 240 minutes during every two-week period either by yourself or with others, and during your “walk,” remember to pray at some point to have intentional time with God. Walking includes any purposeful exercise such as running, swimming, cycling, gardening, snow shoveling, or dancing.

Join the Emmanuel Prayer Walking Ministry and at the end of each two-week period, turn in your minutes privately for a pseudo-accountability only – no shame involved! Receive Bible verses, songs, and/or poems to help you remember to pray during your walk and share your prayer resources with the group.

High School Connections Group

All 9th – 12th grade students are invited to the high school youth group called CONNECTIONS which meets every week on Sundays from 7:00 – 8:00 pm in the Youth Lounge.
