Maureen and her husband, John, joined the Emmanuel community in 1995, raised 4 children who were baptized and confirmed here, and later learned to drive in the parking lot! When the kids were young, Maureen led the Congregational Life team while John served as council president, joyfully supporting the children’s choir, youth programs, the N&N study group, and the preschool advisory team for many years. After 9 consecutive years of driving her children to preschool and church activities, she jokes that her car drove to Emmanuel by itself. Instead of returning to the software industry, Maureen began teaching at the preschool in 2007. She has taught every age group and found her passion as a lead 3s teacher. She loved teaching the PreK science curriculum, developed an international cultures enrichment program, and has been the preschool registrar for the last 10 years. Her administrative role keeps her engaged with each child and family, and it’s been a privilege and a blessing to see their journey through preschool and beyond. Maureen also enjoys crafting, cooking, live music shows, watching football, and cheering for the Washington Capitals.
