RIC Forum on Zoom

During the forum, we will take a look at three things:
– The ELCA’s social statement on sexuality – click here to read social statement
– A document challenging interpretations of Bible passages concerning homosexuality: Click here to read document.
– A second draft of the welcome statement and an interpretation of its meaning for our ministries that are intended to serve as a motion for our upcoming congregational meeting.
That draft reads, “Emmanuel Lutheran Church welcomes all who are seeking God’s love and grace. We welcome and affirm full participation by all because God welcomes all, regardless of race, culture, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, relationship or socio-economic status, addictions, physical or mental health, disability, imprisonment, age, or other circumstances. Our unity is in Christ.”
The draft interpretation reads, “Without limitation, it is intended that all of the activities, ministries, programs, and sacraments of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, including communion, baptism, weddings, and funerals, shall be available to all individuals and couples regardless of their circumstances.
